jeden.day – habit tracker
A Way of Life alternative for habits that are not daily
Way of Life has been around since 2010 and is admirably plain: every habit is a row of days you mark green, red or skipped, chains form, charts show the trend, and a diary line explains the red ones. Its model is daily. If your habits include "three times a week", a number to reach, or a limit with some room in it, this page sets out what jeden.day does with the same chain idea.
What Way of Life is
Way of Life, by Way of Life ApS, is an iOS and Android app (with Mac, Watch and Apple TV builds on the Apple side). Each habit is logged per day as yes, no or skip, coloured green or red so that chains stand out; you can attach a note to a day, set reminders, read pie charts, bar graphs and trend lines, archive habits, back up to the cloud and export CSV or Excel. It is free with a paid Premium upgrade.
Why people look for an alternative
The daily model. A yes/no per day is exactly right for "floss" and exactly wrong for "run three times a week", where four rest days a week are not failures. Way of Life has no per-week quota, no amount against a target, and no allowance on a bad habit — a red day is a red day.
Some also want the record on a computer or in a browser, or want to try it without installing anything.
How jeden.day is different
It keeps the chain and lets the habit say how often it happens: every day, a number of times per week or month, on chosen weekdays, every N days, on days of the month, or as a total summed over a period. Only the days the schedule asks about can break a streak, today never does while it is open, and a skipped day is neutral — the equivalent of Way of Life's skip.
Bad habits get an allowance rather than a red mark: "sweets at most twice a week" records the slips and treats a quiet day as kept, and a daily limit can allow days over it. Measurable habits take a number against a target. It runs in the browser on any device, works without an account, and is currently free with no premium tier.
What Way of Life has that jeden.day does not
Reminders, native apps with a Watch app, a diary note on each day, Excel export, and charts that break a habit down by weekday and trend. If a daily yes/no with a note is the whole of what you want, Way of Life does that well and has for fifteen years.

Questions
Does jeden.day have notes on a day?
No. A cell holds a mark or an amount, not text.
Can I keep the daily yes/no style?
Yes. A daily checkmark habit is the default shape, and a limit set to "never" is the red-day equivalent for a habit you are quitting. The other schedules are there when you need them.
Can I import my Way of Life export?
No. Habits are re-created by hand; jeden.day imports only its own export format.
