jeden.day – habit tracker

A Loop Habit Tracker alternative beyond Android

Loop Habit Tracker is what many people mean by a habit tracker done right: free, open source, no ads, no account, schedules like "3 times per week" and "every other day", and a strength score that forgives a lapse. It is also Android-only and offline-only. If you have moved to an iPhone, want the record on a laptop, or want it in sync between two phones, this page sets out what jeden.day shares with it and where the two part.

What Loop is

Loop, by Álinson Santos Xavier, is a GPLv3 Android app distributed on Google Play and F-Droid. Habits can be daily, a number of times per week, or every other day; since version 2.1 they can be measurable, including at-most measurable habits and skipped days. It has per-habit reminders, home-screen widgets, charts, CSV and SQLite export, and it stores everything on the phone with no account and no network at all.

Why people look for an alternative

Platform first: there is no iOS version, no desktop version and no web version, so a switch to an iPhone ends the record, and a tablet or laptop never sees it. Sync second: Loop's privacy comes from having no server, which also means two devices cannot share a habit list without manual backups.

The ambitions are otherwise close. Someone leaving Loop usually wants the same plainness — no game, no ads, a record that is theirs — somewhere else.

How jeden.day is different

It runs in the browser, on any device, and offers sync as an option rather than a condition: guest mode keeps the record in the browser like Loop keeps it on the phone, and signing in — emailed link or code, then a passkey — carries it to other devices. The account is passwordless and there are no ads, no third-party analytics and a one-file export of everything.

Schedules go a little further: quotas per week, month or block of days, chosen weekdays, every N days from a start date, days of the month, and totals summed across a week or month. Limits carry an allowance, and a daily limit can allow days over it. Streaks are plain counts with grace — today never breaks one, a skipped day is neutral — rather than Loop's decaying strength score, which is a different and legitimate philosophy.

What Loop has that jeden.day does not

It works with no connection at all, and nothing ever leaves the phone. It sends reminders and has widgets. It is open source under the GPL, so you can read exactly what it does; jeden.day's code is not public. And its habit-strength score, which softens a single miss instead of zeroing a streak, is something many people prefer. If a fully offline, auditable Android app is the requirement, Loop is the answer and this page is not.

Questions

Can I import my Loop CSV?

Not directly; jeden.day imports its own export format only. Habits are re-created by hand and the CSV kept as an archive.

Is jeden.day open source?

No. The frontend's third-party components are listed with their licenses on the Licenses page, but the app's own code is not published.

Does jeden.day work offline?

No. Marking a day needs a connection. Guest data lives in the browser, but there is no offline queue or background sync.

How do the streaks differ?

Loop scores habit strength, which decays gently on a miss. jeden.day counts consecutive satisfied days or periods, with grace for today and for skipped days; a finished miss ends the run and your best is kept as the number to chase.
