jeden.day – habit tracker

A Streaks alternative that runs anywhere

Streaks is one of the best-regarded habit apps on the iPhone: up to 24 tasks, a ring per task, a streak per ring, and deep hooks into Apple Health so that steps and workouts complete themselves. Its limits are the platform's: it exists only on Apple devices. If you have an Android phone, a Windows laptop, or simply want the record in a browser, this page sets out what jeden.day does with the same idea.

What Streaks is

Streaks, by Crunchy Bagel, is a habit-forming to-do list for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Vision Pro. Each task is a ring you tap to complete; tasks can repeat on chosen days or a number of times per week, can be timed, can be negative ("avoid junk food"), and can complete automatically from Health data. It syncs over iCloud, exports CSV, and is a one-time purchase rather than a subscription.

Why people look for an alternative

Almost always the platform. A household with one iPhone and one Android phone cannot share the app, a switch of phones means starting over, and there is no web version to open on a work computer. The 24-task cap rarely bites, but it is there.

A second reason is amounts. Streaks knows a task as done or not done, or as a timer, or as a Health quantity; a number you type yourself against a target — pages read, liters drunk — is not what it is built around.

How jeden.day is different

It is a web page, so it runs on every phone and every computer, and an account carries the same grid to all of them. The grid is one row per habit and one column per day rather than a ring per task, which is what lets it show a week or a month of history at once and read a streak in context.

Schedules cover the same ground — chosen weekdays, a number of times per week — and add every N days, days of the month, and totals across a week or month. Measurable habits take a typed number against a target or a limit, with an optional unit. Limits carry an allowance: "sweets at most twice a week" and the cheat-day shape, "under 2,000 kcal a day, with two days a week over it". And the whole thing works without an account, in the browser, until you want to sync.

What Streaks has that jeden.day does not

Everything that comes from being a native Apple app: reminders, home-screen and Watch widgets, Siri Shortcuts, and above all automatic completion from Apple Health, which turns "walk 8,000 steps" into a task that checks itself. Timed tasks with a built-in timer. And a one-time price, where jeden.day is currently free but may add paid features. If you live inside Apple's ecosystem and want the app to do the recording for you, Streaks is very good at exactly that.

Questions

Can I import my Streaks history?

Not directly. Streaks exports CSV and jeden.day imports only its own export format, so habits are re-created by hand and the CSV kept as an archive.

Does jeden.day have anything like the rings?

No. The grid is the display: one row per habit, one cell per day, with a bracket under a week showing a quota filling up. Full view adds a year-long contributions calendar per habit.

Is there a task limit?

An account holds up to 20 habits, archived ones included, which is fewer than Streaks' 24. Guest mode has no server-side limit.

Does it work on an Apple Watch?

No. There is no Watch app and no widget; it is a web page.
