jeden.day – habit tracker

A habit tracker for amounts, not just checkmarks

A checkmark answers "did I?"; many habits ask "how much?" Pages read, minutes practised, liters drunk, steps walked. jeden.day tracks those as numbers with a target, per day or across a week or month, and tells you what is still left.

A target per day

"Read 20 pages" is a habit with a number. Tapping the day opens a small panel: type the amount to set the day, or switch to Add and put an amount on top of what is already there — two sessions, no arithmetic. The day is done when the amount reaches the target, and the panel says how much is to go, or "Target met".

The value panel on a phone for the Read habit: the target line, a sentence saying how many pages are still to go today, the Set/Add toggle and a number field.
The value panel: what today has reached, what is left, and a Set/Add switch.

The unit is optional. It labels the number and nothing more, so "20 a day" is a whole habit, and a unit you add later or remove changes no stored amount.

A total per week or month

Some amounts only make sense summed: 35,000 steps a week, 800 pages a month, 3 liters of water across a weekend. Choose a total per period and everything you record in that period adds up against one target; the panel then says "22,600 steps left this week" rather than judging a single day. The name column shows the running sum against the target, compacted (12.4k/35k·w) so a step count fits beside the habit name.

A limit instead of a target

The same number can be a ceiling: at most 2,000 kcal a day, under 2 hours of screen time. Hitting it exactly is within it, and the reading turns red only once you are over. You can allow a number of days over the limit per week, the cheat-day shape; the limits page covers it.

Reading it back

Every cell shows its amount, compacted where the column is narrow; the full figure is one tap or hover away. The year view shows a bar per week summing the amounts, and its header totals the period on screen — the one figure a broken streak cannot take away. Your data export carries every amount exactly as recorded.

Questions

Can a habit be both a checkmark and an amount?

No. A habit is one or the other, chosen at creation, because entries of one kind mean nothing under the other. Everything else about a measurable habit can be changed later: target, unit, schedule, direction.

Can I combine an amount with “3 times per week”?

Yes. "20 pages, 3 times per week" counts the days that reached 20 against the weekly quota, and the row shows both: the day count and today's reading against the target.

Do decimals work?

Yes: 1.5 liters, 2.5 km. Amounts are shown to one decimal place.

Does it sync with a fitness tracker or health app?

Not directly. Amounts are typed in, or an AI agent you have connected can enter them for you. There is no Apple Health or Google Fit integration.
