jeden.day – habit tracker

A reading habit tracker for pages and progress

A reading habit can mean opening a book regularly or working through a certain number of pages. Those are different goals. jeden.day gives your reading a row in the grid, with a checkmark or an amount for each day, so the record answers the question you care about.

Choose daily pages or a monthly total

For a daily reading goal, create an amount habit with pages as the unit and a target such as 10 per day. Each day is judged against that target. If longer weekend reads should make up for shorter weekdays, choose a total such as 300 pages per month instead. Every amount logged in the month contributes to that one target.

These numbers are examples to adapt to your books and available time. If counting pages distracts from reading, use a checkmark habit and define what counts in its description, such as opening a book after breakfast. Choose the type when you create the habit; checkmarks and amounts are separate kinds of record.

Record the pages you read, including a second sitting

Tap a day on your amount habit to enter its page count. Use Set for the total read that day, or Add for another sitting: 8 pages in the morning plus 12 in the evening leaves 20 on that day. Enter pages read, rather than the page number you reached in the book.

The day holds one combined amount. It does not keep separate sessions or a book catalogue. If you read several books, you can count their pages together and use a note to say which one you picked up.

Leave a short reading note beside the number

A day's note can name the book, the chapter, or a thought to come back to. Notes hold up to 280 characters and do not affect the score. You can also leave one on a day you did not read: "Book finished; choosing the next one" explains a gap without marking it done. A corner mark identifies days with notes, and opening the day shows the text.

Look at the reading record beyond a missed day

Today stays open while there is still time to read. A deliberately skipped day is neutral for the streak; a note alone does not skip it. For a monthly total, a blank day does not by itself mean the month failed: the pages accumulate across the period.

Look back through the grid for your daily amounts, or use the year view for a longer picture and totals across the period on screen. At a weekly review, consider whether your goal fits the way you actually read: small daily sittings, a few reading days, or longer stretches when time allows.

Questions

Can I track reading minutes instead of pages?

Yes. Use minutes as the unit and enter the time you spent reading. The amount is recorded manually; jeden.day does not time a reading session. Keep the unit consistent so earlier and later entries remain comparable.

Can I set a reading goal for only a few days each week?

Yes. A goal such as 10 pages on any three days per week counts days that reach 10. It differs from a weekly total of 30 pages, which could all be read on one day. Choose fixed weekdays instead when particular days matter.

Do I need an account to start a reading tracker?

No. You can start in your browser as a guest. That record lives in this browser and can be lost if its storage is cleared. Sign in and import your guest habits when you want them available on another device.
