jeden.day – habit tracker
A Notion habit tracker alternative that needs no formulas
A Notion habit tracker is a database: one row per day, a checkbox per habit, a formula for the completion rate, a repeating template to make tomorrow's row. It is endlessly customisable and it is yours to maintain. Streaks need advanced formulas or an outside service, a "three times a week" goal needs you to design it, and a limit with allowance is a project. If you want the tracking without the building, here is what jeden.day does.
What a Notion habit tracker is
A page in Notion, built from its templates or by hand: a database whose rows are days (or habits), checkbox properties for each habit, formulas that turn checkboxes into a percentage or a progress bar, and views by week or month. Notion's repeating database templates can create the day's row automatically. Streak counts need the newer formula language or an external automation, since a formula cannot see other rows on its own. It runs wherever Notion runs, exports to CSV and Markdown, and works on the free plan.
Why people look for an alternative
Maintenance. A Notion tracker is a small piece of software you own: a broken formula, a template that stopped repeating, a new habit that needs a new column and a new term in every formula. The record is only as good as your upkeep of the machine that records it.
Scoring. Checkboxes know done or not done per day. A schedule like "3 times per week", a limit with an allowance, an amount summed across a month, grace for a day you skipped — each is a formula you write and test yourself, or a paid add-on.
How jeden.day is different
It is built for one thing, so the scoring is already written: quotas per week or month, chosen weekdays, every N days, days of the month, totals summed over a period, limits with an allowance, measurable habits with a target, streaks with grace for today and for skipped days. Adding a habit is a dialog, not a schema change. The grid is one row per habit and one column per day, with a bracket under each period and the streak beside the name.
It works without an account, is currently free, has no ads or third-party analytics, and the whole record downloads as one file. What you give up is everything Notion is: the tracker cannot sit beside your notes, and you cannot add a column.
What Notion has that jeden.day does not
Unlimited customisation, the tracker beside the rest of your notes and plans, notes on any day, any property you can imagine, native apps on every platform, reminders on dated rows, and a large template ecosystem. If your tracker is part of a larger system you already keep in Notion, that integration is worth more than any built-in schedule.

Questions
Can I keep my Notion tracker and use jeden.day too?
Yes, though double entry rarely lasts. An AI agent connected to both could copy entries across, since both expose MCP servers.
Can I import my Notion database?
No. Habits are re-created by hand; jeden.day imports only its own export format.
Can I add my own columns or notes?
No. A habit has a name, a type, a schedule and a goal; a day has a mark or an amount. That fixed shape is what lets the scoring be built in.
