jeden.day – habit tracker

A Strides alternative that runs anywhere

Strides is a goal tracker as much as a habit tracker: four tracker types — habit, target, average and project — with values, units, pace lines and unlimited reminders, on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Watch. Most of it beyond a few trackers sits behind Strides Plus, and an Android version has been a waitlist for years. If you want the habit half of that on any device, here is what jeden.day does.

What Strides is

Strides, by Goals LLC, runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Vision. A Habit tracker logs yes or no on a streak calendar, daily, on specific days, a number of times per week or month, or every N days; a Target tracks a value toward a goal by a date; an Average tracks a repeating number over any period; a Project tracks milestones. Values carry units, iCloud syncs devices, Apple Health can feed values, and data can be exported. The free version is limited to a few trackers; Strides Plus is a subscription or lifetime purchase.

Why people look for an alternative

Platform and price. There is no Android or web version, so an Android phone or a Windows laptop is out, and more than a handful of trackers means Plus. Export is a Plus feature too.

Some also find four tracker types more machinery than a habit needs and want the grid alone.

How jeden.day is different

It runs in the browser on every device and is currently free with no tier; export is always there. It has one kind of thing, a habit, but the habit can be a checkmark or an amount, and the amount can be judged per day or summed over a week or month — which covers most of what a Strides Average or Target is used for in practice, minus the goal-by-date projection.

Schedules match Strides' range — quotas per week or month, chosen weekdays, every N days — and add days of the month. Limits carry an allowance, and a daily limit can allow days over it. It works without an account, and sync is an emailed link or code, then a passkey.

What Strides has that jeden.day does not

A target by a date with a pace line and projection, rolling averages, project milestones, notes on logs, unlimited reminders, Apple Health input, widgets and a Watch app. If you are tracking a goal — a weight by a date, a savings total — rather than a habit, Strides is built for that and jeden.day is not.

Questions

Can jeden.day track a goal by a date?

Not as a projection. A period total — "800 pages this month" — is the nearest shape; there is no target date or pace line.

Is there a tracker limit?

An account holds up to 20 habits, archived ones included, with every feature available. There is no paid tier.

Can I import a Strides export?

No. Habits are re-created by hand; jeden.day imports only its own export format.
